about me

For seven years, I was the President and Founder of a nonprofit art center that focused on arts and offered a unique event space in Traverse City, MI.

In July, I moved to the most beautiful place on earth, San Luis Obispo, CA. (taking several months off of writing, which was not fun, but well worth the transition)

Into Her Skin is my third novel, having polished it enough to get some feedback. All feedback is greatly appreciated, as I know how precious everyone's time is. Best of luck to all of you aspiring writer's out there. Don't give up the dream!!

Into Her Skin

Laurie Gonda

A savvy, small-town girl’s dream of city life unravels into a nightmare of misadventure and ghostly whims.

At the threat of her parents’ divorce, sixteen-year-old Talia Edison seizes her chance to hit the metropolis, but during her first “lucky break,” she falls victim to an unimaginable assault, robbed of her innocence and her last penny. Broken, alone, and desperate, Talia plunges into solving her own case, meeting a young detective whom she grows close to, while learning that her inherent investigative skills make her a valuable asset.

When Talia becomes haunted by a voice from her past, what she’d thought were imaginary friends from her childhood, become all too real as she discovers her sensitivity to spirits. Initially intrigued, her “gift” becomes the greatest burden she’s ever known as the spirits become an overwhelming source of pain and suffering beyond her control.

The chaos threatens to tear her from the man she’s grown to love while a lingering mystery emerges, driving her to uncover a gruesome family secret. Talia is forced to face fears and vulnerabilities that push her to her limits. Unable to block out her undesired abilities, she must come to terms with them, and try to turn tragedy into forgiveness, without losing her sanity or her loved ones in the process.

Nice detail and flow. I've been told to be use exclamation points very sparingly, so you may want to watch that. Also, ok should be okay. I'm not sure if you pull the reader into the story quick enough, but feel you have some real writing talent. Best of luck to you. view book

Overall, the concepts alone sold me, but your writing is also strong and pulled me into the story right away. Well done. view book

This is absolutely the best quote...and the very same message we hope to instill in the teens we work with. "Now I am living my life based on my own creativity and persistence, living a genuine life, just being me." The next best line. "You do not have to reinvent the wheel in order to be succ... view book
