about me

I write historical summaries for buildings and sites nominated to the National Register of Historical Places. Over the last six years, I have researched, the historical documents from the North American expedition of Hernando de Soto, the vast archeological findings, and the actual sites from that era in preparation for writing the recently completed historical adventure novel, Storykeeper.

I began my artistic career as a professional audio engineer. For thirty-five years I traveled the continent, providing sound engineering services for numerous dignitaries including, Presidents: Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush, William Jefferson Clinton, and George W. Bush, also Bob Hope, Colin Powell, Paul Harvey, Martha Stewart, and Dr. Ruth, and wide variety of entertainers including, Kris Kristofferson, Alice Cooper, Dolly Parton, Steve Martin, The Allman Brothers Band, Jimmy Buffet, Barbara Mandrell, The Eagles, Ray Charles, Rebra McEntire, Dizzy Gillespie, Iron Butterfly, Dave Brubeck, and Willie Nelson.

Storykeeper is a completed 84,00 word historical novel set in the one hundred years that followed the discovery of the Mississippi River by Conquistador Hernando de Soto in 1541.

The first 10 of 42 chapters are posted on authonomy, if you are interested in reading the complete manuscript contact me at: storykeeper.danielasmith@gmail.com

Hello Eileen, The best way to create strong fiction is with realistic dialogue and you have done a great job of both. Glad to have backed Firewalls. All the best. Daniel “Storykeeper” view book

Hello Kaylin, Chapters 1 and 2 are well crafted. A good balance of strong dialogue and description. The prologue is a little dense and almost all agents hate prologues. Does your story start there if so change the title of the prologue to Chapter 1, if not, can that information be placed later in t... view book

Hello Randall, Well crafted opening chapter. With flowing narrative and sharp dialogue, you created a powerful scene, strong characters development, and foreboding tension. Great writing. The only suggestion I have is, revisit your pitches. Neither one reflects the quality of writing that the reade... view book

Hello Bora, You are first and foremost a storyteller. Your engaging voice informs and moves the reader along without intruding on story. Although the story becomes dark and sad your writing is a joy to experience. I know that I have never learned so much about or understood another culture in one r... view book

Hello Manolya, I like your concept and the setting both of which are fertile grounds for tension and conflicts. Your short pitch is solid and intriguing, enough so to bring any agent or publisher surfing around the site to your book page. I afraid you might then lose them with the long pitch. A... view book
