about me

I have a BA in English with a minor in technical writing. From an early age I wanted to write fiction but did not feel confident in my ability. One night I complained to my husband that if I had time I'd write a novel. He said, "Writer's write. They make the time." That was the kick in the pants that I needed to write my first novel a few months later.

Since my tentative beginning at writing ten years ago, I have written ten novels and several children's stories. I have published essays in various anthologies. My hope is that when readers traverse the many words I have written that they will encounter a loving God whose grace covers a multitude of sins.

In addition to writing fiction I am adept at editing and proof reading. I hope to help other writers achieve success in their writing.

My husband, four children, and I reside in Minnesota. I delight in long walks and time with my family. I start my day with a cup of coffee, a pen, and a journal. I savor the time I have to create stories because in the process I draw closer to my source of inspiration.

In Time

Lisa Erler

Cally and Michael have hidden behind emotional walls most of their lives. In each other's arms they come tumbling down.

The ghosts of Michael’s past hover around him. He has been brought full circle as he sits beside the lake which he had grown up on. Now he is to film a movie here. What twist of fate has brought him back home—a place he has not visited for ten years? He remembers his mother’s death bed confession that the man he admired as a father figure is his actual biological father. As he faces the demons that haunt him Michael sees a young woman sitting on a park bench and writing in a journal. Intrigued by her, Michael sits down next to her and asks her what she is writing. A myriad of emotions twirl in Cally's and Michael’s hearts. Neither knew love would greet them when they chose to go to the Lake that gray, May morning. All too quickly their mutual attraction grows into something more. These emotions frighten Cally… They are moving too quickly. Cally has to end it before it is too late and she has compromised her faith. Cally and Michael are brought from darkness to light. What starts in tears ends in laughter.

Other Half of His Heart: Book ....

Lisa Erler

Healing Rain washed away the separation created by tangled lies in David and Julie's marriage.

Pastor David Michaels has a poet’s heart and mind but does not have a poet’s courage to let others see inside his soul. He lives in fear that if he allows his wife, Julie, to see him for who he believes he is that she will reject him. Therefore, David hides behind his internal wall never allowing her to see him as he is…all the while hoping for a shadow of her love.

Overwhelmed in her roles as mother and pastor's wife, Julie Michaels struggles with disillusionment. She feels neglected by her husband, who has thrust himself into his position as Senior Pastor of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She fears what his ambition will cost them. She is tormented by the underlying fear that her husband’s distance may be caused by something other than his business at church.

When David reaches for her love once more, at first she is ready with accusations… but as she looks into his eyes, beyond his walls to the hurt man behind, she sees that her natural love for him would be only a shadow of what he really needed.

The little story about the mother in the clinic is well done. I can picture the details of what it is like to have three kids in a doctor's office. I remember my unruly boys at that age. I think this little piece is a better representation of your skill as a writer than the story Come What May. ... view book

Read another section and enjoyed it. I like the magical shrinking building, and the dwarf and elf woman was described in an interesting way. Could easily picture her. Perhaps you could describe the chrones more. I have found some more typos for you: he said is as calm-- he said this as c... view book
