about me

Hey Folks, really just here for the free no copy paste hosting.

Since that game has just changed, at least into a slower one, I might take some time at this. I'm basically going to judge a book by the pitch/genre before I read. No guaranteed backings/comments. Obviously in common decency, a meaningful comment warrants at least glance at your book.

I suggest pointing me to a particular chapter, as I'm unlikely to read more than one, and I'm sure most read the first.

Magen: The Swordmaster Of Gaho....

Ciarán MacUaitéar

Eternal Conflict? Looking into Humanity's core. Light-hearted and Solemn; to laugh and weep. Hope when history cries out death. An outsider to break the curse?

Political;
Seatus and Es'stus have been destroying each other for hundreds of years. Inevitably, the Seatons—the Defenders—are losing. Desperate to end the battle, The High Marshal, commander of Seaton Defence offers a solution: a solution that can only end in the annihilation of the Es'stons, or the Seatons, or both.

Arrival;
Magen Agasan—outcast from the mythical, telepathic North Ice-Islanders—encounters the enigmatic Centurion Damoclus, who immediately sees Magen’s potential. Damoclus opposes the High Marshal's scheme to end the war, and positions Magen as Swordmaster of Gahon as part of his plot to stop it.

The Es’stons have plans too – spies could lurk behind any face…

Prophesy;
But the North Ice-Islanders haven't abandoned Magen. Concerned with Magen’s resemblance to a hero of myth, they think he might be the one to destroy the 'Dragon Stone' forever. Legend states that the stone imprisons the Evil-One, and holds the power of Dragons. The ‘Dragon Stone’ has been hidden for millennia; something mere mortals shouldn't mess with. Why disturb it now?

Magen doesn't believe in the prophesy, yet cannot deny the feeling that he is being guided - but where?

Read through the first chap here. Really good stuff, I actually wanted to read on, find out who was the woman in the woods. Very much in line with some top Thriller/Detective series. Must say I did find the pitch a little off putting, staid, blah blah battle that ends with destruction of mankind etc... view book

He is - but he's not a main character. The squad presented in this chapter is a parody of the traditional fantasy character set... And indeed the main bunch of adventuring friends of the book. Here's another excerpt with 'Meat'... “I don't wanna jump... It's too far...” the bulky 'Meat' whing... view book

Nice short nippy paragraphs, terse description. Concerns about Mrs Simpkins; opening chapter 2 seems more concerned about relating her complex love triangle and Pete comes second. Only when she comes to view him, do we begin to get some sense of loss. As a thriller reader, more interested in plot th... view book

Needless to say this is punny. Got a few chuckles from me. Hope you haven't sacrificed plot for it though. This'll be going on my shelf, and hopefully I'll get a chance to read a little more. Start is reminiscent of "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" - but quickly divirges in that the world doesn't b... view book

Surely that's not a promo for your own book ;) Yep agreed the short pitch needs work, more like the tag line for a Hollywood blockbuster, than anything captivating or informative. Thanks for the comments and advice folks. For anyone feeling the font is small, Authonomy has provided a slider a... view book
