There's always mischief at this retirement resort out in the desert, halfway between the full moon and Hollywood. Now there's nonsense as well.
You knew the people here, during their happy hour, were fascinated by wine in a box, and chips and Velveeta, but did you also know they love gossip? And well they should - they're in an oddly interesting neighborhood, and they plan to do so much, and sometimes they actually pull off a success or two. The Gourmet Cook Book never left the planning stages, but the Christmas party, the Thanksgiving turkey dinner, and various eventful birthdays do succeed, on their own terms at least. And don't forget the Poetry Events, the Thursday Farmer's Market sidewalk sales - not to mention those one-offs, like the time the Desert Rose was renovated, and the time a director came to town to film life in a senior resort. The yard sale wasn't too bad, either, and neither was the meteor-watching night. Mix in unexpected visitors and chihuahua tragedies and the occasional ex-wife or college reunion, and you've got yourself a little vacation in the desert that you'll long remember.
