about me

I'm a professional blogger (techy stuff), author of The Smashing Idea Book (John Wiley & Sons, to be released September 2011), and copyeditor living in northern Vermont. I'm the author of The Steam and Steel Chronicles, a series of steampunk novellas. The first two books, Aboard the Unstoppable Aerostat Fenris and The Great Healion Race, are available for Kindle, Nook, and via Smashwords.

In addition to tech articles for some of the most popular blogs in the world, I write sci-fi, fantasy, and women's fiction. I'm obsessed with social media—feel free to friend me on Facebook (you can find me in the Autho group) or follow me on Twitter (http://twitter.com/cameron_chapman).

I have a few works-in-progress at the moment...

I don't read here anymore, so don't bother. In fact, I don't do much here anymore other than lurk in the forums and laugh at the trolls and troll bait there...

I've had a read, as requested. This is just my take on your novel, so please take from it what you want. I've pointed out a lot of the inconsistencies and inaccuracies in what you've written about Vermont. I honestly have to wonder if you've ever spent any time in the state, or just been here on vac... view book

I've got very mixed feelings about this. The exposition at the beginning feels unnecessary to me. If I picked it up in a bookstore, I probably wouldn't buy it because it basically starts with an info dump. You could easily cut the first four paragraphs (maybe weave in the information later) and not ... view book

As requested, I've had a read of your book. I've read everything posted here, and I do have a number of comments. Please remember that this is just one person's opinion. Take from it what you find useful and discard the rest. The style of this reads more like an essay than a novel. It's too forma... view book

Hi Jo, For some reason, this just isn't working for me. It's not the writing, I think it's just that it feels a little too familiar. I'm not seeing anything different than the hundreds of other serial killer novels out there. Granted, I don't read thrillers or crime novels very often, so my opini... view book

I really feel like this is starting in the wrong place. I generally only read one chapter, and your first chapter almost lost me entirely. I read on, out of curiosity, and your second chapter is much, much stronger. Maybe try incorporating some of the background information in the first chapter into... view book
