Trying to grow up, a girl writes a goodbye letter to the boy that never was, then finds she’s been adopted by a teenage Djinn.
Pixi and the Boy that Never Was, is about a girl in search of resolution. While tackling disenchantment, depression and a quarter life crisis, she finds she’s been adopted by a teenage Djinn. PIXI is a postmodern fairytale for adults; a semi-autobiographical female voice that has emerged from a multicultural, transnational Britain; and finally a love story and a horror story simultaneously. Combining the offbeat poigniance of Haruki Murakami with the inventive playfulness of Markus Zusak, it is at times dark and haunting, at times broody and pensive, and at times simply absurd.
