about me

Just a simple guy who loves the written word. And sci-fi...
and politics...
and...

Angry Ghosts was acquired by Eirelander Publishing, October 2010, and has been taken down.

Black Hawks is complete and in print and also has been taken down. Huge love to those who helped whittle it down to something coherent and readable.

Now, Book 3 is in the works, working title "Exhausted Dead". I learned a while back that the real value here is not the desk, but the folks who give honest feedback and read deeper than the first few chapters. Send me a note asking for a read swap, and I'll reply. Preference to anyone I've met in the past with new work. And I give good feedback.

To all who commented on A.G./Black Hawks and offered your sincere thoughts: those comments helped shape my work into something readable and likely helped land the contract.
Merci buckets.

The Exhausted Dead

F. Allen Farnham

For a Cadre Operator, there is no retirement but death.

Savagely wounded, and barely alive, Thompson, Argo, and Beckert return from Earth. With them, they bring shocking news: the colony company Soshiba Varicorp provoked the attack which wiped humanity from Earth and her colonies. And their principle agent was Captain Braemar Keller.

Imminently practical, the Cadre is only interested in tangible facts, data which give them an advantage in combatting their ancient reptilian enemy. The Colonists, feeling intense rage and betrayal, howl for Keller's blood. When the two groups most need to cooperate, the issue polarizes them. The resulting schism is devastating.

Thompson, forever changed by his experiences of breathing free air on Earth, is torn between his duty to the Cadre and his longing for a better life. But in the end, he must choose for them all whether they will live in peace or end their days as the Exhausted Dead.

David- After the first chapter, I can't help but reflect. I'll go farther, of course, as there's little to criticize. There's a lot to react to, however. Only this far, I'm unsure what I've read. I get that the narrator was in a psychiatric hospital, and the dialogue suggests he's a senior mem... view book

After three chapters, I'm ready to offer this book a resounding endorsement. It isn't for me. That's an endorsement? Yeah. Because I'm into hard facts, cold machines. I'm a SF geek fer chrissakes. This is so much more than genre fiction. It's got style. It's different. Fantastic. So what i... view book

Chap 2 I feel like I just watched a Swedish movie with French subtitles. I speak neither Swedish, nor French. The impressions are there, regardless. Color, Movement, And Mood, in abundance. On to chapter 3 view book

Holy shit, Liz, you've got it. That intro was perfect. I'm not one to gush. But goddamn, that was good. Everything after is excellent. The descriptions are exact without being wordy. I didn't read it, I experienced it through sight, smell, sound, and touch. Wonderful. My thoughts are few: ... view book
