about me

Crossed is my second book. First one is complete, and undergoing revision. Personal stuff? I live just outside of Vancouver, BC, with a view of the mountains on a nice day. Love the Fraser River Valley, and spend lots of time there paddling, most often with my fellow dragon boaters, the Fraser Dragons. In the winter I prefer somewhere a bit warmer, and migrate to SMA or Guanajuato, Mexico...hence some of the inspiration for book number one.

favourite books

Clochemerle - Gabriel Chevalier
Anne Rice
McCarthy's Bar - Pete McCarthy
Lord of the Rings - Tolkien
any M. Pamplemousse mystery - Michael Bond

Crossed

Carolyn Kessler

Bonds of friendship are best forged over time, but when time is running out, can you afford to be picky?

Pursued by a jilted vampire, a psychotic faery mother, and a mob of angry gypsies, four very accidental companions find they've got nothing to lose but their newfound (and extremely shaky) friendship. There's Nicu, half-vamp, half-Fae, lugging a chip on his shoulder the size of a troll. There's Rho, a faery gone soft. Well, maybe. There's Nadya, more gypsy than Fae, with skills a hardened criminal would envy. And then there's Alfie. Will he ever settle down and just do what he's told? Or will he always be a grown-up who won't grow up?

Thanks for your comments. I haven't had much time this past week to read much - work is crazy - but I plan to read more of your story soon. view book

Love, love, love your hook! I'd love to see it as a book - hilarious! view book

You have a fun and interesting idea for a plot. Although others have said they like the fast pace of the writing, I find myself wanting a great deal more detail. To me, a big part of sci fi is in the imaginative creation of a different world, and for that, details of setting are critical. I'd lov... view book

Great read. I love the deadpan humour of Cuthbert. Quite comical, and yes, similar in style to Tom Sharpe or Terry Pratchett. Needs proofreading though (Ch. 4, para 4, for example) so that the reader isn't distracted by the small stuff. view book

I'm new to the site, and just found this little treasure. I'm a big fan of English humour (I'm CDN) and your first two chapters had me in stitches. I'll be reading more for sure! BTW, the flow of your writing, and your delightful grasp of vocabulary is just so refreshing after most of the stuff... view book
