about me

I am a 30-something aspiring author, occasional artist and hobbyist photographer. I live near Houston, Texas with my husband and our two cats.

I participated with Authonomy way back in 2010, but the process became so truncated with spam and backed-for-backing style cheating that I became very disenchanted with the process. However, reading over the changes that have been made and the promise of more changes to come, I am giving Authonomy another chance.

Chapter One Guh. I really just feel sorry for Charlie, having to put up with a harridan like that for twelve years. A really solid opening though, as I've mentioned to other authors, one of the things that will always catch me about a writer is their ability to write "The Hook". It's a gift I s... view book

The prose is very YA appropriate and every young adult loves a romping good adventure story. Unfortunately, as someone who is part of the "older audience" crowd I didn't feel as engaged as much as I might have, if I were younger. Overall, there are a few tiny quirks as pointed out by previous comm... view book

Admittedly, this is outside of my preferred genre. I am a die hard fantasy buff, so finding things outside the genre that really catch my eye is difficult, even challenging. Your writing is very precise and you give the reader a lot to work with; personally, for me, I kept getting truncated in the... view book

As someone who also grew up reading Jack London, I found this really amazing and it grabbed me at the first go. I haven't finished it all the way through, but I plan to. Jack London was a phenomenal literary icon and to attempt to capture him and his life was surely a daunting task. For that alon... view book

Personally, for me, this reads more along the lines of a children's book -- which may be the intention. There are some instances when the point of view swaps between characters that i find really jarring (Prime example would be in Chapter One, when it swaps from the crow to Cuthbert). That being s... view book
