When two dragons (Blazden and Firentha) are inadvertently encouraged to hatch, they awaken the magic that has lain dormant in Perethia for centuries. In desperation the Elders of the Clan condemn the dragons to death, hoping the magic will die with them. Skylah and Mathias are two children who bonded with the dragons immediately after hatching. When the two dragons flee for their lives, the chase is on. Will Kai and his band of hunters find the dragons and kill them? Or can the children find them first?
The children are helped along the way by the Elkon and the Minari, but must do battle with the evil, terrifying Kipskis and the Ghurba. Firentha does not trust humans, and quickly becomes a dragon on the edge. Will the children be reunited with Blazden and Firentha before the dragons become feral and dangerous? Can they get Firentha back under control?
