about me

My name is Tessa Jane Lee and I am 26 years old. I live in Brighton with my cat and two hamsters, Ruby, Charlie and Joey.

Writing has been my passion for as long as I can remember and from a young age, I was always writing stories, poems and scripts. Becoming a published author is my life's ambition.

I've had several poems published in the past and I completed my first novel this year. I'm currently trying to get it published, which has led me onto this wonderful website. Alongside fiction, I write a column for a local magazine and I edit my church's magazine. I am also working on a script for a short, independent film and have gathered together the beginnings of a small team to get the film produced.

** Just as an aside, I know people are waiting to hear back from me and I will comment and back books as soon as I can. I've just had an unfortunate week or so and am struggling but I will be in touch with people as soon as possible!

favourite books

I love all kinds of books, from romance to horror, fiction and non-fiction.

My favourite book is 'Written on the Body' by Jeanette Winterson and my all time favourite author is Virginia Woolf, on whom I did my dissertation for my BA in English Literature.

Some of my favourite fiction books are 'No TIme for Goodbye' by Linwood Barclay, anything by Michael Cunningham, 'The Girls' by Lori Lansens, 'Wicked' by Gregory Maguire, 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' by Lionel Shriver, 'The Color Purple' by Alice Walker and anything by Sarah Waters.

I really enjoy the classics, particularly Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights' and Hardy's 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles'. I'm interested in books on religion and fiction or non-fiction that offer some kind of social or political comment.

A guilty pleasure of mine are the family sagas written by Virginia Andrews. And I adore the Harry Potter series.

Tessa Jane Lee

A story about the lives and loves of six old friends as they attempt to figure out themselves and the world around them.

Six friends grow up together and are seemingly inseparable but drift apart as their lives take different turns. Dina is a happy housewife but is her marriage all it seems? Dawn is a Hollywood movie star but why is she so lonely? Rachel is in jail but is she truly guilty? Kate is a successful teacher but what part of her life did she hide from her friends? Jayne is a Doctor but why can’t she fall in love? Jodi is a workaholic and engaged to a wonderful man but what is she running away from? As the friends reunite, will they be able to live, laugh and love each other the way they did as children?

This is a really interesting premise. I am intrigued over what 'the being' is and I loved the different descriptions in chapter one as to what the magic headquarters building looks like to different people - non-believers, believers and wizards/witches. I thought that was a very clever touch. T... view book

Wow! This really is something! I'm hooked on reading this already, although I haven't got very far yet. I will continue to read and I will be backing this without hesitation. If you'd allow me to quote you, I just love the part where you say: "... Are we really any more likely to achieve ‘enlig... view book

I really enjoy your narrative. YoI really like the way you write. You can see everything that's happening so clearly from your ddescription and you can feel the atmosphere. I'm only a chapter in but I look forward to continuing reading this. Certainly backed with pleasure. Tess view book
