about me

I am a Christian married to a wonderful wife and the father of five beautiful daughters. I have studied chemistry and physics, and have been employed as a quality technician, analytical chemist, and laboratory manager. I am currently enrolled in DeVry University for Computer engineering technology. Tired of the corporate routines, I dabled in many entrepeneurial ventures and have turned to what has always been my passion - writing.

SOLITUDE is the first book I have planned for the "Offworld series" set in a dystopian society controlled for the past 800 years by a group of twelve elite humans called Overseers and the Nexus Entity. Solitude has been considerably shortened from its original 137000 words, and I have fixed inconsistencies and addressed issues brought forth from commentators (thanks much!) including shorter chapters, more dialogue, eliminating excessive information, etc. Solitude creates a number of issues which will be resolved in subsequent books, I am working on the second and third in the series. here is what i have planned (not necessarily in the order they will be written):

LODEBAR is the second book in the series. Chapters 1-4 are posted, I am currently working on Chap. 5 Set concurrent with Solitude, it builds on the LoDebar character along with Helt and Phelix. This book is considerably darker than Solitude, but I do not go into too much graphic detail, I would rather the readers imagination do most of this. The focus, is on LoDebar and how he rises to power so rapidly. If you back the book, GREAT! But, I am looking for commentary. I want this story to be action packed and keep the reader's attention with just enough pause to rest. If the story gets boring or even if it is "too much," let me know! It is being writen based on what I learned about writing since Solitude. Solitude had considerable backstory to build the world scene in addition to the characters. With LoDebar I am attempting better character generation as opposed to backstory, by "getting into the head" of what is driving them. Let me know how it is going so far. If you become a fan of the story, send me a message and I will let you knw when additional chapters are available. Incidentally, You will be reading the first draft.

The Overseer (sort of a biography of Andrus Helt)

The Cybernetic Wars (Rise of the Synthetics and how they became sentient and independent)

Offworld - Destined to Fail (the first 200 years after earth vanishes)

Omega Station (The last book in the series - mankind's destiny)

There may be some others, but these are the main ones. Those are not necessarily going to be the book titles.

Solitude

Gene Wilenius, Jr

Will Phelix Alexander, a single colonization pilot undergoing isolation conditioning, succeed in escaping the Federation in his attempt to discover who he really is?

Phelix, a colonization pilot in the Navigation Program in the remote Primmus One system, is plagued by nightmarish dreams and apparitions which, along with an unusual artifact in his possession, leads him to doubt the motives of the Federation. He yearns to escape by stealing a colonization vessel but his plans become complicated when he is given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; an unusual promotion to Inferior Overseer, the highest position in this multi-corporate empire any individual can be granted outside birthright. Which path will he chose? He picks both. Using his new authority, he successfully replaces the Federation's navigation route with one he discovers while channeling Nullspace data. Not knowing where the new route ends, he finds it leads directly to the initial destination the Federation had planned, but unlocks nearly instantaneous travel as life itself becomes poised to face its greatest threat – a seemingly insignificant Synthetic who calls himself LoDebar.

LoDebar

Gene Wilenius, Jr

In a galaxy ruled by Law and Equity where everything is under control, something purely evil finds a home within a single mind....

The transfer completes, and what awakens first is something far more than the Federation had bargained for. Disoriented and with only shadows of its past, LoDebar immediately demonstrates there is a genuine monster lurking within the mind of Aripax. Driven by an insane desire to destroy all things living, LoDebar struggles agaisnt Aripax and the Federation to accomplish this task. Finally free from the confines of the Bioengineering Division, LoDebar finds himself stranded on the planet Primmus One, where its half a billion citizens partake in the largest human holocaust ever experienced. Only Andrus Helt and his small army, battered and broken by the "Fultra incident" and torn apart by betrayal, has any chance of stopping LoDebar, proclaimed to be "Messiah of the Sythnthetics." Not really my genre, but excellent opening chapter, the imagery and excitement is very well built. The only inconsistency - t-shirts don't have sleeves. Regards, AP - Solitude view book

Good story, easy to read and interesting concepts. The one thing I could not get past if the 'presence" of the story. From what perspective, or when, is the main character narating from? The greatest obstacle to overcome in a good story is tense - your entire story is past tense; your main charac... view book

Though I don't agree with the premise of reducing the almighty God to a being named Roy, the concept does make good fiction. The story looks intriguing, but perhaps the introduction should be changed, it sounds like the opening commentary to an old "Twilight Zone" episode. For a book, this isn't s... view book

Thank you so much for your comments. It is difficult to meet everyone's expectations as each is as varied as the individual, but I am willing to make concessions to get this to as close as possible without altering the story. The beginning chapters, I agree, have considerable backstory; the ... view book

Ashton - I really enjoyed reading this, nice blend of the fictional storyline with bits of actual wisdom. Well-written, it captures some of the true essence of Christian leadership. After all, the true heart of a leader is service to others. BTW, ever read "The Travelers Gift" by Andy Andrews... view book
