about me

*important note*

For some mood-swing reason, I have changed the title of my novel from "Starstruck" to "Like So Much Trash." So no need to be confused.

*end note*

I guiltily confess for too much characterization and lawn gnome abuse, but I would love any sort of constructive critism/ comments from readers.

And, oh, I'll return the favor, for sure.

My writing style is not fluff about a girl magically becoming popular, or struggling to fit in with a cute co-worker dalloped on top. This will transcend into the gritty, mildly-philosophical angst that the YA genre has not fully tapped into, and what intellectual AP English-taking teen readers like myself crave. None of this, however, is actually from personal experience.

I have to admit the first chapter is a prologue of sorts, and introduces the setting for the actual plot.

And while I am very serious on getting my writing looked at by readers, agents, and editors alike, as I hoped to get published before my senior year for obvious reasons; I am equally serious that I try to avoid these outside pressures while writing. I write for myself, and go by the world created for my characters.

That said -- enjoy.

Like So Much Trash

A. Li

Boys will be boys, but when they're as vicious as girls -- that'll never end well.

"In his dreams, she’s still there. Reaching up to take off her hat, a lazy smile, swinging hips – an exaggeratedly languid stagger that makes her the most hourglass he’d ever seen her. He buries his face into the pillow. She comes to him like this, cold, and immortal, and does not bleed out of his eyes like the tears."

~ Like So Much Trash

Welcome to Wilhelm M. Country, where the incomparable Them is the classic story: dripping of sex, wealth, and social hierarchy to an almost satirical degree.

So when Luke Conaway is warped into a plot set in motion by a sociopathic bet to deliberately overthrow his best friend, Theo, by seducing the new girl – well, it really shouldn't be difficult. The girl, Oscar-winning Troy Elson's newest misfit of a sister-in-law, can only be gold-digging trash.

But it is Wilhelm after all, and Luke never thought of all the ways it could go wrong. Nothing’s going to save Them from falling into the pitfalls of high school disparity now.

I have recently just started reading this -- but I love the time era and personal narrative you have. Many first pov's remain too objective and turn out boring. I'm going to have to continue reading and hope for those glimpses of Andy Warhol! You should watch Factory Girl if you want a visual provid... view book

I am new to this site so I'm not experienced with comments. But I am glad you can make such an envoirnmental issue come alive in your writing, as otherwise it may have become drab. You sure know this world, and I love the passion behind this. Backed. Starstruck A. Li view book

I love the dynamics of twins, its really the most intense connection of characters that can be written. Especially with your written conflict! Backed, and hope you'll return the favor. Starstruck A. Li view book

There's a quality to the wirting that sets this apart. The dialogue is very unrestrained and the story is an original one. view book
