about me

I am a nurse living in a rural town in central Virginia. The loves of my life include my grandchildren and my adopted grandchildren in my Sunday School class. My desire is to teach them about the One (Jesus) who can give them a life worth living and a life that does not fear death. That was how my book was born. It started out as a puppet show and ended up as a little book with the promise of many more adventures.

The Story About an Elephant Na....

Janet Hurd Mitchell

The funny but serious children's story of how a young jungle boy and his elephant met the great I AM who changed their lives forever.

This book reveals a funny but serious children's story of how a young boy, named Mayobe, and his elephant, named Eleanor, met the great I AM who changed their lives forever. The story begins in the jungles of Africa with a brief encounter between a very proud Lion, named Leopold, and a very chatty Bee, named Beatrice who were discussing how important they were in this world. After humerous sparing of words, Leopold chases Beatrice into the jungle. Then the main character of the story, Eleanor the elephant, who had overheard the Lion and Bee's conversation enters the scene thinking about how much she felt sorry for the proud Leopold and the chatty Beatrice. Their lives were centered around self and they had not met the most important one, the great I AM. As Eleanor was contemplating what she needed to do to help the Lion and Bee, Patrick, the parrot, literally flies onto the scene and a lifelong friendship between an elephant and a parrot begins. This story, the first in a series, reveals God's love and grace to children in a way they can understand and embrace for themselves.

I just finished reading your book and I loved it. You aren't finished, I hope. I want to know about the lives of the Flanagans. Oh, I also backed your book and put it on my bookshelf. I would love to see it get on the editor's desk and then published. Did you self publish? Was it expensive? W... view book

I finished reading your book last night and can truthfully say that I could not put it down. I am so glad that it had a happy ending for Lizzie. You were able to skillfully sweep me into the story to such an extent that I felt Lizzie's pain when she was hungry, I was cold when she was cold, and I... view book

Sorry, Andi, I was really enjoying your book and getting into it but the "F" word just bummed me out and I lost interest...sad, because I believe it would have been a very good read. I turn off movies also when there is cursing involved. Have a great evening. Janet view book
