about me

Well, I'm a college sophomore living in Midwestern USA (Minnesota to be exact). I'm a theatre arts major with music and English writing minors who is anticipating the "starving artist" years soon to come. Writing is cathartic for me, and I do it because I'd probably lose my mind if I didn't. Busy doesn't even begin to describe me, but that's how life goes.

I am almost always short on time, so I can only promise that if you ask, I will read at least a few chapters and rate your book. I try to leave comments as much as possible, and I may come back much later to leave my thoughts. I am stingy with my backings, though.

One last note: I'm a grammar stickler. If you have problems with complete sentences, I/me, and punctuation, I'll be hard-pressed to back you.

Choosing Love

Sarah Mar

She knows all about loving her daughter, but can she ever discover what it is to love a man?

A car accident at the age of nineteen left Leilah Shore with no family but the newborn daughter she inherited. After years of toil and sacrifice, her career is finally taking hold, and she's even found Colin, a man who doesn't run at the mention of a child, and one who is worth her time. When two people from the past return and threaten to take her child away, Leilah's options are limited. Can she find a way to hold on to the daughter she cannot live without and the man who is slowly taking hold in her heart, or will her choice guarantee that she loses one of them?

This story has all the makings of a really cute, fun read. I can easily see it as one of those books that comes through a mail subscription publisher for women. My one complaint is that you're moving it a little too quickly. Your readers need time to acclimate to changes in plot, location, etc. ... view book

I think this book has a really great set-up! I love the romantic thriller vibe you're aiming for. My one big criticism is about your sentence structure. Some of your sentences get very long-winded and have multiple clauses, which can be very difficult for a reader to follow; other times, you get ... view book

In my own personal opinion, you're trying very hard to make this book sound "smart." I see where you're coming from, but the first few paragraphs made me want to quit reading. Not only do you sound like you've swallowed a thesaurus, but you use such words (paradox, disparity, simulated) multiple t... view book

Your story captures my attention with the great writing. Watch the length of your sentences; they tend to be lengthy, although correctly punctuated. It just makes it easier for your reader. This book would be much easier to read in print form, so I wish you the best of luck. Backed, Sarah view book

Historical fiction is a difficult genre for trying to mix the factual with the entertaining. I found your book very enjoyable, and I have just one problem with it. I really think that pretending to be a historical figure leaves you in a bad position; you're taking liberties with the life of a per... view book
