At fourteen, Casey discovered she had a gift, after touching her murdered mother’s face. She kept it secret, until she found it useful.
When now grown, homicide detective, Casey Lattimer, touches the dead, she experiences their last moments of life, all of their emotions played out, the fear, denial, and pain, until finally she takes their last breaths with them. And sometimes, if the dying have seen them, she also sees their killers.
As useful as her gift is, she only shares it with one person, and must find a way to catch the killer with solid police work. This seems near impossible when Lattimer and N.Y.P.D.’s 5th precinct lands a case straight out of biblical times after a school teacher is discovered crucified in his apartment and a string of seemingly random murders begins. A long dead language, crudely painted in blood and weapons from ancient times are the only clues left by the hooded figure that Casey sees murdering his victims.
After a retired and gravely ill rabbi steps in to help them by translating the messages, things start coming together, they find out the killer will murder twelve men he believes are reincarnations of Christ’s disciples.
Can Lattimer find the clue that connects the victims before the killer finishes his murder spree?
