about me

I took a break from Authonomy while I had a few near misses with agents. But I'm back and making a stab for the desk.

As an advertising copywriter, I write for a living. So over the years I've been lucky enough to learn my craft - but the ability to tell a story is another thing altogether.

Pascual was a real person I knew as a child - he grew a special garden just for me. Because of the war, he didn't know how old he was.

So, sit down with a nice cup of tea and have a read. I welcome all honest reviews. I’m used to having my writing criticised so don’t hold any punches. It’s about time I found out if I can give up the day job...

Pascual's Birthday is complete.

My Dad's excellent book - A Circle Has No End is now available on Amazon:

Pascual's Birthday

Diana Henderson

Pascual lost his birthday in the Spanish Civil War.
Now he and his grandson set out to find it.

As a small boy in the Spanish Civil War, Pascual lost his family, his home and his birthday. Now an old man, he is inspired by his grandson to explore the past in search of his history.

Along the journey forgotten memories return, and old friends and enemies come to life again. But will they find Pascual’s birthday?

This novel is complete.

This isn't really my genre, but the concept is interesting and your pitch encouraged me to read on. You're writing is good, although it feels rather heavy. I understand this is your style, but perhaps it would be easier to digest if it were broken up with some dialogue? Just a thought - feel free ... view book

Interesting concept. I don't know anything about your subject and your first chapter really engaged me and left me wanting to know more. Your writing seems clear and confident with a good pace, and I can see the story unfurling nicely. I'm starring this now and will pop it on my shelf as soon as t... view book

Lovely concept Fred. You know your historical stuff and the writing, as always, is comfortable and steady. However, I think you're missing a trick. Where's the food?? A French chef with a passion for food - don't tell me, show me! Cooking is so sensory and evocative, it's wonderful to work wi... view book

I started reading this, but I'm afraid I didn't get very far. I read books for pleasure, so I wouldn't pick this in a bookshop. I know I should and that it's important, but I don't want to read a book about animal cruelty. I'm more likely to take in information about a situation like this in a ne... view book

Hi both, Firstly, I thought it was going to be full on science fiction - I suppose an assumption from the title and cover. I love the concept - I can see the reader is going to be looking for connections in seemingly unconnected scenarios and everyone loves figuring out a mystery. I can al... view book
