about me

Hey!
I'm Judith Victoria.
No, J.V. is not a man, but that can be our secret.
I've been writing a while, but have only begun to self-publish my works.
Thought I'd share the beginnings of a few unpublished works.
REALMS OF THE EARTH is a prequel to the soon to be published Where the Horses Run (it will be removed from this site once published).
WITHIN THE SACRED CIRCLE is a spin-off of book 2 of WTHR, Sacred Hills, so won't be completed for a while.
The Secrets of Meshyah's World will be a series of our possible future, each book with a different title.
Please, share your opinions. I like to know the reader's points of view of what I've written.
Check my website for more details. A glance at the books can be seen at www.judithvictoriadouglas.net, with more on the dot com site.
Good luck and happy writing to everyone.

favourite books

I have enjoyed every book I've ever read and learned something from each. I've only found one published work to ever fail to draw me in. That's a lot of good writing/reading to be overshadowed by the memory of this one I'd like to forget. It haunts me often as I write.
If you want to see my list go to Shelfari.com & look me up.

Where the Horses Run, Book I, ....

J. V. Douglas

An epic tale of the sudden loss of a beloved species.

Broken by a previous tragedy and her questionable recovery treatment, Elle relates her experiences after witnessing the unbelievable.
She's barely healed after the loss of her vibrant young stallion, Le Roi du Soleil, and now grateful her big black gelding, Goliath, isn't among those vanished.
It's the beginning of her journey as her past catches up in many unexpected ways. Placed back on her unfinished path, others join her discovering a scientific phenomenon hidden on the Earth as they search for meaning with this big mystery. Many things forgotten are remembered along her road to this juncture.

Realms of the Earth

J. V. Douglas

An epic fantasy of Earth's history and the source of all real magic.

Once many realms existed attached to the earth, but separate from the travails upon her. The sources of our myths, a lifetime passed within as the earth's ages flew by.

Hensley, as Scribe, provides Earth's history as seen from outside of time. He lives in an enchanted realm with symbiotic connection to the Earth. His is the fourth generation since life was brought forth from the birthing grounds by the Guardian. His life follows many ages until a time when a great calamity is predicted. He reveals how change can come to even the most sacred realms when the darkness of the world's Ages prevail. As the Ages pass a bright future for a renewed Earth is still far into its uncertain future. Only the Earth's Guardian knows of her dreams of remaking.

WIthin the Sacred Circle ....

J. V. Douglas

The secrets of their hidden sanctuary must be told. Carver accompanies Lone Deer on his perilous journey. He never returns home.

The year is 1891. Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse, the last holdouts for freedom of their traditional ways, are dead. The Wounded Knee massacre happened last year. Into this world a great mystery crept. It came from a site of long-told superstitions and folktales. Strange happenings were beginning to confirm these stories. One Scottish landowner didn't mind. He knew the secret. It'd been told to him by his Indian mother-in-law, and confirmed by an old medicine man forty-nine years ago. The mysterious occurrences had their beginning in a small area of Texas, but its roots were in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the sacred heartbeat of Indian tradition. The valley hidden at the foundation of the world had not been found. It's guarded by the unseen ancients set there during those beginning times. And they're watching.

The Secrets of Meshyah's World....

J. V. Douglas

A journal is found among antique books. Started by a nine year old, it continued yearly for five years--in an unimaginable future.

The journal's source is unknown. Jamie and Jasmine search once they learn, as they read Meshyah's story, it had to have come from the future, if what's written can be true. But, how?
It's a life very different from what anyone could expect. Their search leads them to believe as it also demands action.
Learning the secrets of Meshyah's world, after dealing with the mysteries of a recent impossible worldwide occurrence which Jamie helped solve, leads him to approach his Chief and the Councils. He tells what he's learned from the journal when his digs in the Black Hills reveal a past as unimaginable as the future written of. It leads to plans to make the future survival of all fit the scenario Shy describes, the story she and her friends, Jazz and Ozzie, worked to send as a warning to the past, to show how life on Earth was almost lost, but survived.
The questions remain: how could they have known to act in time without this future message? And how could three youngsters from the future know how to send the message back through time?

AGC, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the story and the six stars. The story was already written, but had to be placed in a better order, as you and another reviewer suggested. Remember when you stated before--that the dialogue didn't start until chapter 16 or so? That's what's in chapter one ... view book

After reading only a little of this I am impressed. If the rest of the story is as superbly written I'd say you have a winner here. I already see the characters, and anticipate their story. Best of luck with it. I give you 6 stars. view book

Captivating. An excellently written piece. Without dialogue and the only action in narrative it still sucks you in. Good luck with this one. It's a keeper. view book

A thoroughly enjoyable folk-tale. I was hooked from the beginning. view book

The first sentence is awkward. Maybe remove the commas and "gusts of wind" since you've already established the wind "ran". When a foreign word is used, the reader usually won't understand unless the translation is also given. "Remember Luis," should be in quotes for the dialogue. These things... view book
